Definition


Prostate is a small circular solid gland, which is located just below the bladder and surrounds the upper part of the urethra. It will be in front of the rectum, so you can mark it with a gloved finger through the end of the intestine. This is used in diagnostic purposes, the doctor will mark the size and shape of the prostate.

Prostate consists of several small glands, which produces a secrete, which is excreted in the urethra during ejaculation (sædafgang). During ejaculation prostate pull themselves together and excrete secretions, which interferes with sperm in the urethra. This secretions makes it easier for sædcellerne to move into vagina and uterus. In addition, stimulates secretions sædcellernes movement, the likelihood of fertilization promoted.

The most common forms of disease in prostate cancer is infection of the prostate (prostatitis), prostataforstørrelse and cancer of the prostate.
The most common symptoms of disease in prostate cancer is urination problems, since a closed prostate will afklemme urethra.
