Hjerteinfakt, also known asacute myocardial infarction (AMI)is when a portion of heart muscle dies because of lack of oxygen. It occurs in the context of a heart attack or severe narrowing of the cardiac blood-supplying arteries, coronary arteries pulse. The disease is unfortunately frequent in the Western world, and every year around. 14,000 Danes a myocardial infarction. About 4,000 die soon after due to severe destruction to the heart, and a further 20% of the 10,000 that are hospitalized, is in such poor condition that they die immediately after hospitalization.

The first 24 hours after a myocardial infarction is by far the most critical, and then survival is good. For each month that goes without complications, improved the outlook dramatically.

All that has been detected a heart attack, will be thoroughly investigated, and not infrequently you need to reopen the tilstoppede tub using a ballonudvidelse or a by-pass surgery.
In almost all cases, this will improve symptoms. Small blood clots can choose medical treatment combined with frequent monitoring of the disease.

After a myocardial infarction, your doctor will prescribe a mild blood treatment with a mild hjertemagnyl (aspirin) to prevent new clots. This therapy is lifelong.

Complications

A myocardial infarction may be followed by some complications. These depend on the size of infarct, and the patient's age and general condition. The vast majority of complications is within the first few days to weeks after infarction. The main complications are:

  • Heart rhythm disorder.

  • Heart failure.

  • Renewed myocardial infarction.

  • Blood clots that river itself loose from the heart wall and brought to other parts of the body.

It is important to stress that far from all developing these complications. Patients with very large Infarcts develops most often (severe) complications.

Forecast

The earlier starting treatment after the onset of symptoms, the better the prognosis. In some cases, the patient runs directly on the operating table to ballonudvidelse or by-pass surgery. The forecast also depends on the size of infarct. High age, previous heart disease and diabetes also plays into the forecast.
In most cases involve relatively small damage to the heart muscle, and we will be able to return to a completely normal life after a few months. "

Some will find that the heart does not turn quite as sharp longer, and you can feel that faster than before becoming breathless or have a tendency to fluid in the legs. Many of the subsequent genes can be treated or eased with medical treatment.

Council on lifestyle

Blood clots in the heart due to overwhelming arteriosclerosis of the heart coronary arteries, and the most important step in preventing a recurrence of coronary disease is prevention of arteriosclerosis.

The main parameters are:

  • Smoking cessation.

  • Cholesterol Lowering.

  • Motion.

  • Weight sinking.

  • Healthy diet.

  • Lowering Blood Pressure.

  • Avoid stress.

The above are all areas where efforts can be made. Most require a personal effort and the result will be reduced disease risk, not only for cardiovascular disease, but also for example, lung disease and diabetes. In addition, most will experience physical and psychological well-being and increased profits.

Lowering blood pressure and possibly. lowering of cholesterol can be a medical mission.
